IMPORTANT HARD-DRIVE FILE NOTE: as you copy the files off the CD onto your PC's hard drive, they retain their READ-ONLY status! Once you have copied all of the files, select all of the contents of each folder copied, right click and select "Properties." Then uncheck the "Read-only" box. Until you do this step, nothing will work! You must do this for each and every folder. I am sorry but I do not know how to automate this process from Windows.

From an MS-DOS prompt, you can change the read-only status with the DOS ATTRIB command. For example, if I had copied the entire contents of the Eamon CD to the directory C:\GAMES\EAMON I could issue this command:

		ATTRIB -R C:\GAMES\EAMON\*.* /S

The above command will turn off the read-only status in c:\GAMES\EAMON and in all the subdirectories contained within it.

Before you can run any of the emulators, you must transfer them from this CD-R to your hard drive. If you use a PC, I suggest that you give Apple Oasis, AppleWin and ApplePC a try to see which suits you best. AppleWin is far easier to learn and use, but ApplePC has many more features and is said to be a better emulation. Apple Oasis is by far the best emulator of the three, but it is Shareware; this freeware version has a 20-minute timer.

Use A2 with Braille and Speech readers for vision-impaired users:
These readers require a true DOS-type text screen to transcribe to Braille or speech. Most emulators use a graphics-based screen to emulate the original appearance of the Apple II screen, and thus do not contain text. However, the A2 emulator uses the MS-DOS text screen and will work with most readers. If you get a DPMI error, the file included in this folder should work for you.

Catakig for Macintosh note:
This CD-R was built by a PC-user on a PC machine, and Mac support is thus necessarily somewhat limited. However, it has been tested on a Mac and should work fine for you. Please be sure to read the "Catakig.txt" text file in the Catakig folder.

Be sure to read the AREADME.TXT text file in each folder.

There are quite a few Apple II emulators available. See EMULATR.TXT in the Info folder for more information.

File names:
All files on this CD-R have very short MS-DOS-type 8.3 filenames, in compliance with the ISO9660 standard for cross-platform compatibility. This CD should be universally readable on all computers and operating systems. Feel free to rename the filenames to whatever you wish once you transfer them to your hard drive. (Note: A2 and ApplePC are MS-DOS programs and only support 8.3 filenames; if you plan to use A2 or ApplePC, leave the DSK filenames as they are.)

Copy II+
Copy II+ is a ProDOS file, but it works with both DOS 3.3 and ProDOS disks, and it can transfer files between DOS 3.3 and ProDOS. I have heard that some versions of Copy II+ had a bug that might trash a disk that was being sorted. I don't know what version this is, but I suggest that you make a copy of any DSK that you wish to perform sorts on, just to be safe. There are three Copy II+ disks, but normally the only one you need is disk 1.

Softdisk Eamons:
Softdisk has graciously granted permission to include their Softdisk Eamons on this CD. You will find them in the "SOFTDISK" folders. These Eamons are intended to be run by themselves without use of the Main Hall. To start them, run the LEADIN program.

Please note that Softdisk has NOT released these games into the public domain. Permission was specifically granted for this release of this CD-R only.

Fun Stuff:
There are some neat icons in the PC_Eamon folder in the Myicons.icl file.

Eamon Deluxe:
The MS-DOS Eamon system in the EAMONDX folder is in a compressed format; it cannot be used as stored on this disk, but must be installed. See the AREADME.TXT file in the EamonDX folder for details.

Updates:
This CD is an ongoing effort and will be updated as new stuff becomes available. If you would like to receive news about updates, be sure to keep me informed of your current email address.

Special parental note:
Eamons 32 and 196 have very strong sexual themes, and many would consider them pornographic in nature. This disk does include those Eamons as you requested. Please be careful in making them available to minors or others who would be offended by their content.
