    Miscellaneous Eamon Projects

This page has a bunch of odds and ends for which I couldn’t find a good home.

    EamonFK Hard Drive Image

This is an emulator HDV (hard drive) image that Frank Black made. It contains a bunch of special modified Eamons that he had made in 1999. It works with Apple II emulators that support the HDV format. Hard drive images are usually loaded into “slot 7” just like DSK images in “slot 6”. Use the emulator’s reset function or type “PR#7” at the Apple command prompt to boot.

    As written by Frank:

The adventures on this hard drive image are all old adventures that I converted to an optimized, all lowercase system about 9 years ago. When the ApplePC emulator came out I started to put this HDV image together as a side project and thought I would share it..

All but a few of these adventures have a MAIN PGM that I developed which has all of the Eamon version 7 features and more but runs as a version 6. This was based on an Eamon 8.0 system that I had developed.

I have also included my universal Dungeon Edit and Dungeon List programs. Very useful tools that are also from the Eamon 8.0 Designer disk. Eamon 8.0 never ended up getting released because it was finished at one of the many times when it seemed that interest in Eamon, and the Apple II, were nearly dead. Tom Zuchowski of the Eamon Adventurer’s Guild felt that version 7 was hard enough to get people to switch over to; and, since nobody was writing Eamons anymore anyway, he never announced it; he was very impressed and approved of it, though…

I’ve tested each of these adventures to make sure they run and return to the Main Hall properly.

    Matt Vigor’s Hard Drive Image

This is a creation that Matt Vigor made several years ago on a Windows 98 machine. It is a ProDOS hard drive image file that worked with ApplePC emulator. It can be mounted while emulating a IIGS and contains every Eamon that I had access to in ProDOS format. Right now the file is in a Stuffit archive and needs to be expanded. Inside you’ll find an 8MB file called EAMON.HDV

    Hammer’s Slammers by Tom Zuchowski

Tom Zuchowski: “The “SLAMMERS” disk was my last Eamon work in progress. This was by far my most ambitious Eamon, with very extensive, complex commands and weaponry, and a 400-room map. It was mostly /docs/done as far as the first scene and puzzle set, but it is otherwise incomplete. I thought you might be interested in the introduction and that first scene, which you can play up to the point where you destroy the ambushers with the tank’s main gun. If it crashes in 80-column mode, try it in 40-column lower-case mode. If the scenario interests you, you might want to pick up “Hammer’s Slammers,” a book by David Drake.”
