Main Halls

Main Halls - This is not an all-inclusive list of Eamon masters! Instead, it is a list of the masters which are available as DSK images from this website. For more on the other masters that have been created, check out the August 1985 issue of the NEUC and the Eamon Masters section of the Eamon Lore page on this website.

• EAG MAIN HALL & BEGINNERS CAVE by Don Brown. Widely available from public-domain sellers (just about everyone sells it or one like it), this is the original Main Hall with a simple armorer, magician, and banker. This version is sometimes considered Eamon Master 1.2 because it includes a SNAPPY file, a suicide routine, and the ability to say no to Hokas. It also has standardized Beginner’s Cave files.
• GRAPHICS MAIN HALL by Rick Volberding. Also widely available, this Main Hall uses hi-res graphics in the ‘overhead’ mode, similar to the old Epyx adventures such as ‘Temple of Apshai’, but of better quality. The Main Hall itself is much like the basic Main Hall above, but it ajoins a ‘village’ where you can have weapons made to order, visit a witch who can enhance your attributes, gamble in a casino, a spellcaster who can enhance your spell abilities, or practice arenas where your weapon or armor expertise can be improved. There is something special in the center of each screen that can be done, too.
• EXPANDED MASTER (also known as EAMON MASTER 2) by John Heng & John Nelson. This is a menu-driven disk that includes limited character editing among its start-up options. The armorer handles custom weapons and you can special-order any weapon you want, if you have the money! It has a weapons-training center for boosting weapon expertise. (Aspen’s EU8 disk) Also available in a version from the Big Red Apple Club.
• EAMON MASTER 3 - This master diskette was created by John Beaty, and contains a special weapons shop which allows you to buy weapons that other adventurers have sold. It works like this: You go into the special weapons shop and pay a copying fee for a weapon you have, plus a fee for the weapon you want to buy and you are allowed to buy duplicate copy of someone else’s weapon.
• EAMON MASTER JH - This master disk was created by Jeff Hurlburt. It features a locker which the adventurer can store weapons, improved character stats displays, and an experience page showing how many times the character has been on a particular adventure. It is not certain if this master “plays well” with the rest of the Eamon world.
• EAMON UTILITY MASTER - This master disk was created by Andy Andrews. It has a SNAPPY file and a suicide routine, but doesn’t allow you to say no to Hokas, putting it somewhere between 1.0 and 1.1 in the schema of masters. Upon running the master, the player has the chance to run a character editor. Other than that, there is nothing special about this master.

• Utilities III - Monster Battles
  • This consists of a set of programs that can load in any monster from any Eamon and then pit them against one another in an arena. This seems somewhat useless, since (on the average) the stronger monster will win more battles, but if you like to watch the antics of the insidious Random Number Generator, you might enjoy it.
• Utilities IV - Customizer Tools
